I'm noticing that as I continue to deny myself junk food (remember: diet time), I am beginning to obsess about certain things.
chocolate
Cheetos
cream cheese
The fact that these items all begin with 'C' has not escaped my notice. Subliminal mind control from the media? Perhaps. Anyhoo, I am fixated on obtaining and consuming mass quantities of these items. Together, apart, I don't care.
To date, I have managed to withstand off the temptation to: take 1 block of Philly cream cheese, fold in 1 snack bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos, sandwich it between two bars of Hershey's milk chocolate... then scuttle behind a piece of furniture and devour my kill. Must not crack under the pressure...
I always believed that my comfort foods were things like: pizza, fresh bread, and hot cookies. In the face of adversity, it appears that I'm much more pedestrian.
What are YOUR ultimate comfort foods?

One word, CHOCOLATE! In any form, except white, which is a travesty.
But, really keep up the battle. Monchichi Chick and I have both been being really good since last June. She has lost about 35 pounds and I have lost about 20 and we are both feeling really good.
Chocolates. Tapioca pudding (homemade still warm.) Homemade scones with mincemeat stirred into the mix. hmmmmmm
You MUST let yourself indulge sometimes!!
As long as it's in moderation, it's fine. I let myself have treats and alcohol on a regular basis and I'm much happier--AND I'm still losing weight! 45 pounds is the current total.
I think that's why this lifestyle change (don't ever call it a diet) is working for me--I'm not making myself miserable.
Life just isn't worth living without some chocolate--and liquor!
Amen, moderation and lifestyle change is the way to go. I don't tell myself that I can't have anything, just not quite so much of the goodies as I used to eat. Plus regular exercise, too many of us spend our lives sitting on our duffs.
Since I'm only in week two of the "lifestyle change", I'm going to avoid chocolate for a while because it tends to weaken my overall resolve. I also have to limit my wine intake because when I drink, I get munchies and then I have ZERO resolve. My goals: lose the 35 pounds I gained while/after having Helena and make sure that once I lose the weight, I don't get pregnant again! (This will be accomplished by neutering USMCMan. Maybe I'll blog this next...)
Actually, I LOVE cubed steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cornbread. I'm on the fence about turnip greens, but that may be because I don't know how to prepare them properly. As for the pudding--- I'm WRITHING with envy.
And I do need to drop the lbs. but XOXO for the pick me up.
