Oh, Pluck It!

I've had a trying week. It has reminded me of working at the library's reference desk... lots of annoying, ignorant people who want me to do their work for them. I'm just not getting PAID to take this harassment. I actually volunteered for it! Dummy me. The next time someone says "PTO" remind me to kick myself in the shin and run away screaming.

Adding insult to injury, I actually found a WHISKER on my chin! AAAAUGH! The knell of doom has rung! The Grim Reaper has found me and left his mark! Whiskers are for dogs and old men named 'Pappy', not me! (I may have to run away and join the circus.) Very, very depressing. Of course, I yanked it out immediately and then spent a very self-involved hour looking for more. None to be found, thank you very little.

Also... I have just been told by our military housing authority that our entire street is being "relocated" next summer so that our houses can be renovated. Additionally, they really don't have enough open base houses for everyone to move into and we have zero chance of moving back into our newly renovated house. VERY, VERY ANNOYING. I understand and applaud that the private venture company that owns the houses is upgrading them (they're small and built in the 1950s, and really need redoing), but the thought of having to move AGAIN in the 100 degree heat is daunting. PLUS, we're scheduled to do our regular base-relocation in 2007, so we'll essentially be in our "new" house (wherever they find some place to stick us) for 8 months and then we'll have to pack up and move AGAIN! *sigh* I shudder to think of all of the change of addresses and services I'm going to have to change/stop/start up. Trauma for all involved.

As I've said before... kill me now.

I'm sorry about your house. I grew up in discarded army housing. It was no longer good enough for service families, so Rutgers University bought the duplexes for graduate students with families.

I have PCOS and have to pluck twice a day. Less sympathy about your one hair. :)

You're right, Elizabeth, I shouldn't complain about one hair... I'm sure others will follow in its wake and I just need to try to age gracefully. (I do feel like kicking and screaming a little, though! HA!)

I can't sympathize with your one hair. Being a guy I have to scrape a razor sharp piece of steel across the lower half of my face and neck every day. I do know people who can sympathize though. My mother for one. She has SEVERAL whiskers. I never had the nerve as a child to tell her about them and now I don't see her often enough to be able to. At least you caught it early.

Sorry to hear about the moves too. Moving sucks!

Ahhhh, we're all getting old together.

Since I've recently been told I have perimenopause and arthritis in my back, I feel your pain.

Hey, if the whisker issue gets worse, there are always laser treatments to be had.

Better living through cosmetic procedures!!
