The Mold On The Bus Goes Round 'N Round...

Before I explain the bus, I have to mention the NEWEST offering at the Church of the Grammar-Impaired Idiots. (See previous blog entry for earlier offenses...) Today, the church billboard sign reads: The Wages of Sin Is Death! This is so wrong. I almost decided to swerve into their sign and make a claim for temporary insanity due to egregious misuse of the English language.

On to the day's rant. Have you ever seen that commercial for the cruise line (Royal Caribbean?) where the woman is in the midst of a crowd of kids who are completely ignoring her; she says (to none and all) "I was not to be disturbed before 9am!"? The point they're pushing is that you're important while on the cruise ship--as opposed to the "real" world where people treat you like caca. I laugh at this ad because it is mostly true for me--in a different way.

I can't remember sleeping later than 7:30am for the last 5 years. Nobody listens to what I say. I used to be able to read a book in one sitting, now it takes me one week (if I'm lucky). This is what comes of having young kids. I used to manage a library brach with an enormous book and facilities budget, now I'm clipping 'Box Tops for Education' .10 coupons off of food products for my son's school. It's ironic, funny, and slightly surreal all at the same time. I can totally identify with the lady in the cruise commercial. Oh how the mighty have fallen!

Case in point, my important job of the day: de-molding the back porch. Once June arrives in NC, all outdoor items gain a black fuzz of mold. FOUL, GROSS, YUCKY MOLD! Not even the Little People School Bus was spared the horror. So I got to spend my "free time" scrubbing gook off of the porch, chairs, toys, walls--you name it, I scrubbed it. (The Little People did send me a nice thank you note, though.) Again, let me say, oh how the mighty have fallen. Ha! I do laugh at the situation; motherhood was my choice. It's just such a wild departure from my library career. Oh well. I'll be back in libraryland...one day. As for now, it's back to 5am wake-ups and loaded diapers. Yeesh!

Infomatrix, you know how much I love my "niece and nephew"...but "5 am wakeups and loaded diapers"...just two more reasons why motherhood was NOT my choice!!

You're STILL mighty honey, you have NOT fallen!

You are mighty! You're a housewife commando with a cooking spoon in one hand and a paddle in the other, equally capable of dispensing culinary delicacies or righteous justice at a moment's notice. Don't you ever forget it!
