I Got Publicly SNIFFED!

Last night I was at the USMC gym, working hard on the elliptical machine. Some Marine showed up on the machine to my left. I didn't pay much attention--it is a military base gym, after all!

After about 5 minutes of sweating along, I hear the guy sniff. "Sniff. Sniff. Sniiiiiiiiifffff."

I thought he had some allergy or some cold or guy-cootie thing. Again, I was following good gym etiquette and not trying to pay attention to the lithe, hot, muscular bod next to me. (Nothing to see...be good...keep eyes forward...)

One of the Marines on the floor dropped a heavy squat rack and the noise was LOUD. I made some sort of surprised sound and that (apparently) gave Mr. Sniffer license to chat with me!

He turned to me and said, " You smell good! I've been sniffing you!"

EEEEEEEEK!

I'd been working out for 15 minutes before he arrived. I didn't think I smelled very good at all. In fact, I was sweaty and sticky and nasty-wet. But that kind of comment deserved some sort of response, so I managed to glance over and mumble, "Uh, thanks. It must be my shampoo or something." (So glib!)

And then I realized. It was THE MAGIC HAIR SPRAY. I love Aveda's 'Brilliant' line of products, and in the past, complete strangers have told me my hair smelled good. (The fabulous Michael Angelo of legend and lore being one of these men.) USMCman also has come under the spell of this Aveda line and I have had to put my special hair products under strict lock and key-- they ain't cheap!

I guess my magic elixir works under dire circumstances. Good to know!

Do you have a special product that you just love and that everyone comments on? Share!

Mine is the Japanese Cherry Blossom body wash and lotion from Bath & Body Works.

It has been commented on by numerous folk, primarily strippers, including the fabulous Michael Angelo of said legend and lore.

He was giving me a lap dance one fine evening, and was on the floor in front of me. He ran his hands and his face up my leg, stopped at my knees, and purred, "Did you bathe in something new? You smell different."

"Huh?" was my snappy comeback, since I was in a Michael Angelo-induced daze at that point. "Uh, yeah," I stammered, slightly regaining my composure, "You like?" "Oh yeah!" He replied, burying his face in my lap.

Back into the daze I went!

Note to self: buy 'Japanese Cherry Blossom' body wash. Second note to self: do not wash with said body wash prior to going to the gym... I might cause a sniff-stampede!

Something I like to smell on USMCMan is 'Nomad' body wash by Crabtree & Evelyn. It is a sandalwood/moss/soapy smell that is clean and very attractive. It isn't a perfume-ish scent, it is just very nice.

I used to wear a perfume with vanilla as a major scent. I used to get a lot of comments from guys, but then you never knew if they were just hungry for lunch. LOL

I remember reading some study from Harvard that said that men especially love the smell of pumpkin-pie spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla. Instead of floral scents, perhaps sticking a piece of holiday pie under your armpit would attract that certain someone asap! Or maybe just bugs...
