Damn Those Nightmarish Chickens!

I did my good deed for the weekend by offering to take Thing1 and his friend to lunch and a movie. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but the friend in question was a girl I'll just call: WEDNESDAY ADAMS. She looks and acts like Wednesday. Sour, pinch-faced, and a consumate liar. Unfortunately, she and Thing1 were in school together for two years and became fast pals and even though we don't attend the same school any more (thanks to the diety!), we still come into contact with her family. Can't avoid the occasional play date.

As Wednesday was being dropped off, I explained to her mother that a) we were going to a movie and b) I would be taking them out to lunch prior to the movie.

Without batting an eye, Wednesday's mother said, "Oh, make sure Wednesday doesn't eat any chicken-- IT GIVES HER NIGHTMARES."

What the CLUCK?

I blinked, long and slow, and then said, "Well, we wouldn't want THAT to happen, would we? I guess that means no nuggets."

Has anyone ever heard of this nonsense? How would a person actually link eating chicken (processed parts or free-range chicken breasts) with causing a nightmare?

The woman was dead serious.

This is still cracking me up (no chicken egg pun intended...)

I tried to find ANYTHING about chicken causing nightmares, and guess what, I found nothing!

I saw a lot of mentions about eating cheese before bedtime causing nightmares though, which is weird enough. One site said research shows only "blue-veined" cheese had this effect.

Who knew?

Nightmares or no nightmares, I will still lust after...and enjoy blue-veined cheeses! Mmmm, Maytag Blue Cheese, ripe pears, and crackers. With a glass of wine, of course. HEAVEN! As for the nightmares, perhaps it is due to the concentrated levels of mold in that type of cheese (as opposed to the regular levels of mold in all cheese).

Nightmares are just entertainment for me!
