20th Reunion -- Lamefest 2006.

The dreaded "20-Year High School Reunion" invitation just showed up in my mailbox. Ugh. Has it really been 20 years already? Can't be!

Oddly enough, I noticed that my name was on the "Missing" list! It's not as if I've been in the Congo for the last 20 years. People in my small home town know where to find me. In addition, my parents have lived in the same home with the same telephone number for the last 30 years, so anyone with an ounce of brains should have been able to crack open the phone book and give them a call. Duh. Apparently, the Reunion Committee isn't comprised of all valedictorians.

Here's a list of the FABULOUS activities scheduled for my reunion:
Pre-reunion bonfire--BYOB.
Golf.
Family Fun Day at the Park.
Casino Games Night.

WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING???

How boring is that? Why would I even consider driving 16 hours to attend a mosquito-fest bonfire, golfing--which I detest, a rugrat playdate, and bunko...with people I didn't like even when I was in school with them 20 years ago?

Am I the only one with a lame high school reunion? Did ANYONE else go to their high school reunion and actually have a good time? An elegant meal with dancing and a live band? Will we have to be having our 50th reunion before people fork out the cash to have a party, not a playdate?

What do you think?

I skipped them all until 25. I was wiser to skip them. We weren't that fond of each other then. I was sitting on my dad's porch at 9 with a glass of wine.

What's funny is that I was my mom's "date" for her last reunion and we had a blast. We were planning to go to one the year she died.

My opinion if you didn't like spending time with them in HS, you won't now.

I'll never know, because as you said, I didn't want to see those people in high school and I sure don't want to see them now.

I have TWO friends from high school I'm still friends with, and they are all I need.

I skipped my 20th reunion and have no intention of ever attending any in the future. Lame.

The funny thing is that people from this graduating class who were never my friends during elem/middle/high school are now emailing me with "we miss you" stories, trying to get me to come to the party. Puh-leeze. I think not.

I think I am the type who has trouble making friends easily, but when I make them, I keep them forever. XOXO to you all!

Some people I know are very friendly and seem to have lots of friends all the time, but as the years go by, these "friends" turn out to be flakes and drift away. Not friends at all.
