As most of you know, I live on a military base. This means that Hallow'een trick-o-treating has a designated START and STOP time. And people follow it--or else!
It was very surreal. At precicely 5:30pm, almost every house on our block had an explosion of costumed children. From zero kids to over one hundred in less than a few minutes. It was like "just add water and POOF, instant Hallow'een"!
Our neighbors, the Lowe's were the big attraction. For miles around, they were the drive-by-must-see, with their fog machine, flying ghosts and witches, dancing life-sized Frankenstein, witch, and Day of the Dead skeleton. They also had a LOUD special effects tape rolling that could be heard for blocks in every direction. It was really pretty cool, but again... hard to top, or even compare with. People were driving miles to come over and park in front of their yard. I can only imagine what Christmas is going to be like. (Maybe they're Hindus and this won't be an issue? Nahhhhh.)
In an effort to be festive, I made my annual GARBAGE BAG SPIDER. Pretty easy, just takes two lawn garbage bags and one white indoor garbage bag. Melt pieces together with an iron (sandwiched between white butcher paper to keep the plastic from melting onto your ironing board or iron). Stuff with crinkled up newspapers. (SEE ABOVE PICTURE) The Lowe's may spend big bucks splurging on decorations, but I think my homemade spider was pretty cool, too.
What do you think?

I like your spider a lot! We may have to try that next year.
You never know. If the Lowes are Hindi, they might do a big Diwali display. :)
D-M helped me hand out candy. She put it in their bags... one piece at a time. LOL Good thing she's cute so they didn't mind.
I LOVE the spider!! Fun homemade stuff is always the best. Will you make a spider for ME for next year?
I sure missed being with you and USMCman and Thing1 and Thing2 this Halloween!
