You know the day is off to a rocky start when your kid shows up at your bedside with his eyes all puffed up and crusted with goo. Yes, dear reader, it's another thrilling episode of 'Pink Eye Guy'! Ugh. AKA 'conjunctivitis', pink eye is a nasty side-effect of a viral or bacterial, or even allergic reaction. My little guy seems to be particularly prone to re-occurances of this malady (just like the
Illustrated Librarian!). My sympathies to all who go through this, it is nasty, painful, and unsightly. Somehow, kidlet seems to get this just before we plan family trips or outings. This weekend's attempted getaway: Myrtle Beach, SC. This may not happen if old bunny eyes isn't better ASAP. (Restaurants tend to shy away from serving kids who look like they've been on all-night benders.) In addition, pink eye is highly contagious; if the whole family is out wandering the streets looking crusty and pink, we might get pulled in by the CDC. Nasty, nasty, nasty! Other than the eye ointment, which I have and am applying on kidlet, does anyone have any other suggestions as to how to combat this crud?
HELP!

Nothing else works for me except the ointment. That and wash his hands every minute. The first time I got it, I didn't know what it was and I was rubbing one pink eye and transferred it to the other eye. Great. Oh, and wash the pillowcases, etc., every morning, you can pick it back up from the pillows and sheets. You probably know all this already. If not, sorry I just gave you more work to do.
Excellent advise from TIL. I couldn't have said it better myself. Although I can expand on the previous comment by saying to prevent future outbreaks of this particularly heinous malady make sure he washes his hands a lot. It will be really easy for him to get it again if he, say, picks his nose and then rubs his eyes.
